Profile description
He accepts instructions in a range of areas of practice and has experience of advocacy in trials, interim applications, settlement and disposal hearings in the County Court, and is starting to build his practice in the First Tier Tribunal and High Court. Chris speaks Russian, Farsi and German and particularly welcomes instructions with an international flavour. Chris is also qualified to accept instructions under the Direct Public Access Scheme.
Public & regulatory
Chris is currently instructed by one of the core participants in the Undercover Policing Inquiry.
Before and during pupillage, Chris volunteered with a national charity providing Tribunal advocacy support to parents of children with Special Educational Needs. He therefore has experience of education law where it intersects with disability law.
Business
Chris has experience bringing and defending claims on behalf of businesses, typically in breach of contract claims, either in a consumer or B2B context. He recently assisted another member of Chambers with a farm partnership dispute.
Chris also appears pro bono in the Winding Up Court under the Company Insolvency (COIN) scheme and is developing his insolvency practice.
Property & private client
Chris has significant experience in residential and commercial landlord and tenant matters, in particular possession and access injunction hearings. He has advised on disrepair matters at the pre-action stage, as well as advising and drafting witness statements as part of a protracted disrepair dispute.
He has experience of Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims, including alternative dispute resolution, and disputes involving significant property and other assets under TOLATA.
During pupillage, Chris gained experience of professional negligence claims in respect of property transactions. He also assisted with the production of a recently-published book on risk and negligence in property transactions.
Employment
Chris undertakes work for both claimants and respondents and is expanding his practice in this area.
