Family law (children)
Sandy has extensive experience of family law proceedings and is frequently instructed to represent clients in relation to contentious child arrangements disputes (applications for contact and residence). Her child arrangements practice includes the following areas:
- Child Arrangement Orders
- Prohibited Steps Orders
- Specific Issue Orders
- Applications to enforce
- Allegations of domestic violence and substance abuse
- Parental alienation
- Shared Residence Orders
- Applications for financial orders
Sandy offers representation throughout the course of proceedings from first hearings to final hearings and everything in between (directions hearings, dispute resolution hearings and fact-finding hearings). In addition to the above areas, Sandy is extremely well-versed in injunctive proceedings before the family courts such as applications for non-molestation orders, occupation orders. She represents Applicants and Respondents throughout these proceedings from 'ex parte' (without notice) applications through to contested final hearings.
Family law (finance and property)
Sandy's matrimonial finance practice includes financial remedies on divorce or dissolution, cohabitation/co-owner disputes under TOLATA and financial provision for children under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989. The cases she deals with in this area often include specific issues relating to the following:
- Business and property assets (sometimes overseas)
- Inheritance
- Trusts of Land
- Family trusts
- Intervening third party interests
- Variation applications
- Enforcement
- Non-compliance with disclosure
Civil litigation:
Sandy has a broad civil practice with an emphasis on commercial litigation including:
- Contractual disputes
- Insolvency and bankruptcy matters
- Debt recovery (statutory demands and applications to enforce judgment debts, charging orders, attachment of earnings and return of goods)
- Professional negligence
- Shareholder and partnership dispute
In the field of property law Sandy accepts instructions to deal with landlord and tenant matters (commercial and residential), possession/repossession claims and applications for orders for sale. Other areas of work that she has covered recently include proprietary estoppel, immigration, professional regulatory hearings and Employment Tribunal proceedings.
Academic credentials
Sandy has taught Legal Principles on the Maritime Education & Training (METL) courses. She lectures to undergraduates on the Law of Contract at Roehampton University and previously taught on the Elements of the Law of Contract at King’s College London. She was educated in London PhD and LLB (Hons) and did her masters MPhil.(Cantab) at Cambridge University. Sandy is a member of the South Eastern Circuit and a supporting member of the LMAA.
