Profile description
Aidan left his life of crime behind him when he joined the Bar and has since focussed exclusively on family law. He has extensive and lengthy experience in the Family Courts representing Local Authorities, parents and children, via their Children’s Guardians. He was a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel for many years and since joining the Bar has continued to work to develop his public law practice. Aidan has conducted litigation in all tiers of the Family Court, including the Court of Appeal.
Recent Cases:
Findings of fact hearings and proceedings involving sexual or physical abuse, domestic violence, alcohol and drug related issues and neglect. In addition Aidan has been instructed in cases involving alleged fabricated or induced illness (FII) and cases with an international dimension.
Aidan has cross-examined vulnerable witnesses in proceedings alleging sexual offences and has also represented vulnerable clients in care proceedings.
Leave applications in respect of contact to children in care, applications for party status by grandparents and other family members and applications for leave to revoke placement orders and oppose adoption applications have formed part of Aidan’s developing public law practice.
In Children Act private law proceedings Aidan takes instructions on a Rule 16(4) basis to
represent children and also acts for parents in applications for child arrangement orders (formerly residence /contact or for older readers still custody/access) as well as cases and disputes international relocation.
